We now provide the Suggested Reading List for you and young reader. Go to the library website (www.edwardslibrary.org) and click on the KIDS PAGE, scroll down and click on Edwards Library Reading List. You may find these titles at our libraries. Remember, a significant growth in reading ability occurs in the primary grades. Encourage your children to select appropriate books and read. 

THE CHILDREN'S LIBRARY IS HAVING A PARTY!

THE LIBRARY CATALOG IS NOW ONLINE!

The Library has upgraded it's services for our customers. We have a full running on-line catalog that is available for everybody to use. You can access this catalog at your home, work, or anywhere with a connection. All you have to do is go to the Libraries' Main Page. Scroll down, and in the middle you should see "Library On-Line Catalog." Just click on this link and it will automatically send you to a new webpage. From this page you will be able to search the database via author, subject, title, and many other methods. Please feel free to stop by and use it any time.

THE LIBRARY HAS WI-FI CONNECTION!

The Library has just currently had a new connection available for the public. This connection is OFF THE NETWORK! It is on the same connection that our internet lab is on. The only difference is it is of course a brand new Wi-Fi connection. People have been bringing in there own laptops and using this connection so they can work on personal documents and send them without having to use a disk and switch to our computers. It is a very reliable connection that gives you service anywhere in our library. It's worth coming to check out

ROSETTA STONE ONLINE PROGRAM

Now Available to All Base Personnel. Register to learn a language online! Rosetta Stone is revolutionary, immersion based language learning software acclaimed for it speed, ease-of-use and effectiveness, and is now available at Edwards Main Library. THE LIBRARY HAS PC & XBOX 360 GAMES AVAILABLE!

The Main Library has XBOX 360 and PC games in their collection and are available for public use. We have great titles like Guitar Hero and Hannah Montana for the XBOX 360 also Need for Speed Carbon and F.E.A.R. for the PC.  These items are located at the front desk and ready to be checked out. Also we have set up a Xbox 360 and monitor in our computer lab with head phones to allow our patrons the ability to not only check out the Xbox games to take home but to play right here in the library!

OverDrive Audio Book Program now!!

OverDrive is an online service providing digital media through Air Force Libraries. At present, AF Libraries have purchased over 400 audio books that you may check out and enjoy. Please, come to the library to get your OverDrive account!

Online Resources - New Database:

EBSCO Host is an online reference database. Please visit www.edwardslibrary.org, for more information. Access is for patrons only, please contact the library for the user name and password

The Library has many new computers and printers that are all up and running. We have also upgraded from the traditional 56k to a DSL line as well. So come on by and get the best computer access you could ask for here at your Edwards Library.

The Library is also adding new materials every week. Please, come to the main library and check the “New Item” listings posted at the front desk. You can also join the Information Awareness Program, information is listed to the left. Many of the items on the list can be found on the shelf in front of the main counter called "New Releases."

HELP NEEDED

We need your help! The McNaughton books (our leased collection) contain the bestseller and current popular books that most of you request. We would like any suggestions from our customers for our upcoming order so we can be assured that your needs are being met. Please feel free to make suggestions for the upcoming order.

Did you know you can renew your library books by telephone? Books can be renewed for two weeks unless they are on the reserved list. Other Library items: DVDs, videos, CDs and books on tape cannot be renewed. To renew your library materials, call 275-2665.

To avoid receiving overdue notices or phone calls at the squadron level, library customers are encouraged to return materials by their due date. If you are going TDY, on leave, or whatever the reason, please renew or return your materials before you leave. Books can be returned at the drop box near the entrance anytime. Other items such as videos, CDs, cassettes, books on tape and DVDs must be returned to the circulation desk during open hours, to prevent damage to them.

INTERLIBRARY LOANS

Can't find what you're looking for? Ask about Interlibrary Loans for books and articles not held by the Edwards Main Library. The library provides this great service in obtaining items from other libraries for our customers via OCLC online system with access to more than 35 million records (titles) at more that 30.000 libraries. Please allow enough "lead" time in making requests if they are for school projects with a specific due date, most Interlibrary Loans take at least 2 weeks to get.

Faxing cost $1.00 per page including cover sheet, only outgoing faxes within the United States, received faxes by permission of Head Librarian only.

Copies are .15 cents each, letter or legal size. Enlargement and reduction are also available.
